An access log is a text file which contains a complete report on all of the files accessed by your website visitors. All the files which were requested in one way or another shall be included, so when you have a PHP script program and a visitor opens just the home page, for instance, you might find plenty of files in the log. This is because there are components on the home page that are embedded - parts of other web pages, pictures, etcetera. All these files shall be listed inside the access log, so you can get a detailed picture of the way your site performs. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes called "raw data" too. An access log provides the name of every requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, browser and Operating System. More information, such as the referrer website, is usually supplied as well. A log file can be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics provided by your server.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting
Our custom-built Hepsia CP features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your cloud website hosting account and navigate to this section, you will find a list of all the domains and subdomains that you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to each domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you shall see a download link along with the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your PC and view it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you don't require one, you'll be able to stop it with just a mouse click from the same exact section of the CP. You will still have the ability to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it won't take more than a few mouse clicks to enable the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The feature may be permitted via the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this may be done independently for every single domain or subdomain which you have inside your account. Whenever you log in and visit the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. One click will enable the log generation and a second one shall disable it, so you can control this feature with great efficiency. A Download link within the same section will permit you to save the compiled content as a text file, that you could then use on your computer system. Whether or not the logs are deactivated, you will still be able to download the data which has been previously generated.
